Bradley revisits his roots on
his second solo recording, his alto flute backed by a Hammond B-3
organ trio. Combining the smooth classic Hammond B-3 sound with
the deeper, warm and mellow sonority of the alto flute, Bradley
and his collaborators sail through a collection of originals and
standards freshly arranged by Allan Phillips. It's music with a
smooth, warm glow.
"…Unforced whimsy
makes this the kind of music that enhances one's listening experience.
The album's mellow sound -- alto flute is much more pleasing to
the ear than the higher flute sound most people are used to -- combined
with the familiar melody lines of Henry Mancini's "Pink Panther
Theme" and Bobby Womack's "Breezin' " -- gives this
collection a wide-reaching appeal." Mary Montgomery, San Diego
Reader
“In Bradley Leighton’s
gifted hands, the panther is anything but pink. The jazz flutist’s
latest CD includes a variation of the theme from the Pink Panther
like you won’t believe.” - Martin Jones Westlin, CITYBEAT
"Bradley Leighton finds
the groove of the alto flute and rides it all the way on the waves
of sound coming from the Hammond B-3. You can tell these guys like
playing jazz!" - Claudia Russell, KSDS, Jazz 88.3 fm
